Japanese Training Ship Visits Panama
During a cruise, the Japanese navy training ships, Iwate and Jakumo, visited the U.S. Naval Station at Fort Amador, in the Panama Canal Zone. This photo shows Japanese and American officers saluting during the playing of the national anthem. Left to Right: Brigadier General Thomas Darran, Commander of Troops; Major General Preston Brown, Commanding the Panama Canal Department; Vice Admiral Gengo Hyakutake, commander of the Japanese cruisers; and Rear Admiral Woodward, commanding special service squadron, U.S. Navy.
