Description
BLUES POSTER: OTIS RUSH AND HIS ORCHESTRA original 1957 cardboard poster HIS FIRST TEXAS TOUR 14 x 22I got this original 14x22 cardboard showcard (black ink on pale blue background, printed by Tribune Press in Earl Park, Indiana) in the 1970s from Chicago booking agent/producer/drummer Jump Jackson, who owned the RHYTHM & BLUES AGENCY in Chicago (listed at bottom of poster). It is in very good shape, no tears or holes, just some wear in the white border area, where there is also some darkening from age. Otis is pictured in his early 20s. The poster advertises his Latest Hits: “My Love Will Never Die” – “Violent Love” – “Love That Woman.” (These were all recorded in 1956-57 for Cobra Records in Chicago.) Jackson, by the way, said he booked dates for this tour and had the posters printed, but Otis did not make it – not the only time Otis backed out on a tour in his troubled career.
This is an ORIGINAL 1957 print, not a reprint. Selling it to help pay the bills and keep researching and writing about blues.
