    Description

This ( M1847 ) Buckle is no less than 150+ Years Old and came from the Kingdom of Prussia before Germany was created at the conclusion of the Franco-Prussian War in 1871. The Buckle is in good condition, These Buckles were used by the German 8th Army on the Eastern Front during the Great War for whatever reason. When Russia bowed out in 1917 several units were transferred to the Western Front for the balance of the war. Germany was unified under the King of Prussia who was elected German Emperor at Versailles at the conclusion of the Franco-Prussian War. He held the dual role of King of Prussia as well as German Emperor. Belt buckles prior to the unification show a large Prussian Crown in the center, there are subtle differences in this crown from the crown shown after unification. This is an interesting collectors piece of history as well as a good start to a collection.
